Stephen James
Stephen James
Since he was 7, guitar, singing, and songwriting have been integral parts of Stephen James' life. In 2012, at age 14, James confronted his passions and came together with best friend /drummer Zach Meyer to start rehearsing original material for the "Eyelids" EP in their freshman year of high school. Over the next few years, distance complicated their process, but with the aid of long-time friend/multi-instrumentalist, Josh Trimble, their sound evolved. In late 2015, James released his first full-length album:"Roman Buildings". The songs "Anything At All" and "Lions" became the record's dominant forces. Early the next year, James and crew started writing, organizing, and rehearsing for their second LP: "Optimum". Released in late December 2017, the record is a diverse collection of gritty alternative rock, soulful jazz pop, and infectious melodies. "Optimum" boasts a distinct maturation of their sound, with single "Scratched up Windows" leading the way.
